Dark green UV Cut Glass: An alternative to the illegal tinted windows
To beat the heat in summers, Asahi India
Glass (AIS) has introduced a new legal alternative for the automotive industry.
With the tinted windows and sun films gone, sun glare and heat accumulating
inside the car cabin are huge issues for many car owners. Launched by AIS, Dark
green UV Cut Glass is the perfect solution for these problems.
After the ban of tinted glass and sun films
on vehicles by the Supreme Court of India in 2012, , many car owners found it
difficult to escape the heat and sun glare while driving. According to the Supreme
Court’s order, for front and rear windshields, the visual light transmission
limit was set at 70%. On the other hand, 50% was the limit for side windows on
all vehicles. This created huge problems as only a handful of manufacturers
offered vehicles with tinted windows that complied with the law.
Suited for the Indian market, AIS has introduced a new product called Dark Green UVCut Glass. After working extensively with experts in Japan, AIS developed this unique
offering for the Indian customers focusing predominantly towards the automotive
sector. AIS claims that this innovative
technology has the potential to reduce the thermal load inside the car cabin
and eliminate more than 80% UV radiation. Also, they reckon that the product
complies with the Indian law and provides 50% light transmission for the side
windows.
The Dark Green UV Cut Glass is RTO approved
and hence, it is a viable option. Since AIS is among the largest automotive
glass suppliers to OEMs in India, many manufacturers use their products that
include Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors,
Toyota Kirloskar, Honda Cars India, Volkswagen India, Ford India and Skoda
Auto. The official prices of their product are yet to be announced, but they are
expected to vary from vehicle to vehicle.
